🏠May is Building Safety Month🏠

The City of Okeechobee proudly honors Building Official Jeff Newell for his hard work and dedication. A strong building doesn't just "happen"- it takes codes, inspections, and professionals making sure things don't end up as a DIY disaster story.

This month we celebrate the people who make sure our homes, businesses, and community are safe, solid, and not held together by hope and duct tape. Because nobody wants their "open floor plan" to become an "unexpected open floor plan." 😁

💚Check In, Speak Up, Show Up💚

May is Mental Health Awareness Month⛅️- a time to slow down and recognize something we don't always say out loud: mental health matters every single day. This month is about breaking the stigma and reminding ourselves and others that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

The City of Okeechobee thanks and supports Our Village Okeechobee. 🫶The work you do helps make space for real conversations and real healing- no filters, no pretending, just people helping people.💚

🏆Okeechobee City Salutes the Pros Behind the Scrubs🏆

🩺National Nurses Week🩺 is celebrated each year from May 6 through 12 to honor the hardworking nurses who care for others day in and day out. The week begins on National Nurses Day and ends on Florence Nightingale's birthday, the founder of modern nursing.

So this week, we proudly celebrate the real MVPs of healthcare- the nurses who somehow survive long shifts, cold coffee☕️ and call lights that seem to have perfect timing. We see you, we appreciate you, and we honestly don't know how you do it. 🎊

🏦City Hall runs on coffee..... and Municipal Clerks🏦

It's Municipal Clerks Week, which means it's time to celebrate the people who keep City Hall running smoothly!

Please join in showing some extra love to our amazing City Clerk Lane Gamiotea, Deputy City Clerk Katie Rogers, and Assistant Deputy City Clerk Jessica Rickards.

Need a meeting scheduled? They've got it.
Need Records found? They know exactly where it is.
Need a deadline remembered? Don't worry- they already reminded everyone twice.
They are the behind-the-scenes glue that holds it all together, and somehow they do it all with organization, patience and a whole lot of grace. Truthfully, City Hall would be a lot more chaotic without them. Happy Municipal Clerks Week!
