EHS GENERALIST

Primary Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain facility EHS programs, documentation, recordkeeping, and compliance systems.
• Coordinate safety inspections, corrective actions, performance metrics, vendor administration, and regulatory documentation.
• Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training* while supporting employee communication and emergency preparedness initiatives.
o Depends on length of time spent in this role
• Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, workers' compensation administration, modified duty tracking, and return-to-work coordination.
• Support ongoing compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations by partnering with Operations and HR.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) experience is required.
• Able to understand complex regulations and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds.
• Experience implementing, training and maintaining company safety programs such as Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, High Voltage Electrical, Forklift, Aerial Lift, and Ergonomic Assessments.
• Knowledge of Environmental management & reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
• Cal/OSHA and injury reporting knowledge.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule with occasional travel (domestic) is required.
• Act professionally toward customers, visitors, vendors, and co-workers.
• Must be organized and have knowledge of regulatory record-keeping requirements.
• OSHA 10/30-Hour General Industry certification preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred.

📍 Office-based clinical role with minimal travel

📌 Key Responsibilities:

Review outpatient, elective, and prospective inpatient service requests for medical necessity
Evaluate referrals including DME, outpatient therapies, and prior authorizations
Utilize clinical guidelines (Milliman/Medi-Cal) to support decision-making
Coordinate and process authorization and referral requests
Communicate with providers and internal teams to ensure timely coordination of care
Assist with resolving quality of care and grievance-related issues
Identify cases involving coordination of benefits or third-party liability
Maintain knowledge of covered benefits and available programs
Collaborate with care teams such as Case Management, Transitions of Care, and Community Support Services
Review non-contracted service requests and coordinate appropriately
Prepare and process denial letters and documentation
Ensure cases meet medical necessity criteria within required turnaround times
Refer cases that do not meet criteria to Medical Director
Stay current with healthcare guidelines and program requirements

✅ Qualifications:
Education and experience:
• Registered Nurse (RN) with an active, current, unrestricted CA license.
• Minimum of two years (2) full-time clinical experience in acute care, community health setting, public health nursing or chronic disease management required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school or equivalent in Nursing, Health Administration or related healthcare field preferred.
• Understanding of utilization management principles preferred.
• Experience with MCG Health LLC clinical guidelines and Medi-CAL coverage preferred.
• Experience working in case management or care coordination is a plus.
• Knowledge of Kern County Community resources for seniors and people with disabilities is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid California Driver License and proof of State required auto liability. Up to 10% Driving.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
