Find yourself daydreaming at work? Uninspired to complete daily tasks? Feel like there's little left to learn in your current role? You may be outgrowing your job.

Reaching a career plateau is a common occurrence, and doesn't have to have a negative connotation. In fact, the GOAL should be to outgrow your job at some point, so you can move forward toward a career that challenges and inspires you.

A great employer will recognize an employee who is outgrowing their role, and focus on ways to challenge, develop and stimulate their interest as they mature into a new phase in their career. This employer is an expert at growing the job along with the employee. However, not all employers recognize this phenomenon, or have the ability to develop an employee to reach their full potential once they've actively disengaged.

If you find yourself in this position, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. However, by exploring the your options and actively seeking out new opportunities you can land a career that will challenge and excite you each day. The first step is taking the first step!

Does your resume read like you've been job-hopping when, in reality, you've been actively recruited as a top performer in your field?

An opportunity for advancement should be viewed an as asset, rather than a liability, in your candidacy for a new job role. However, if not clearly articulated during the hiring process, frequent job changes can look less than ideal on paper.

It is entirely acceptable to tell a Recruiter or Hiring Manager that you left a previous job role because you were actively recruited and offered opportunity to advance your career. In many industries this practice is customary, and affords candidates the ability to move forward at an accelerated career trajectory.

At your next job interview, don't hesitate to share this information with your Recruiter or Hiring Manager
