So, this happened yesterday!

Prior Marine, SGT Sam McKamey was conditionally released from the Marine Corps Reserve and joined our 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron as the newest Flight Medic!

A previous mentor of his, and Marine Corps Major came along to witness his Oath of Enlistment. After officially swearing in, the Major mentioned how exciting, yet scary it may be for someone transitioning into a completely new branch of service.

Learning new rank structures, customs/courtesies, uniforms and a completely new way of life can be a lot to take on and definitely requires a leap of faith. I thought that was incredibly inspiring, and loved to see his mentor supporting him through this new venture!

So, a round of applause to SGT McKamey, and this new opportunity! And his willingness to take on a whole new military experience with the Air National Guard.

A huge shout out to our 166th Maintenance Group and our Fire Fighters at Station 33 - Delaware Air Guard Fire Department for putting on an amazing base tour for some of our local high school JROTC cadets!

It was a great opportunity to show off some of our Airmen’s skill sets, as well as give those who are considering service a hands-on presentation!

A big thank you to TSgt. Hamilton from our 166th Maintenance Group for coming out with me to today’s College Fair event at the Boys and Girls Club of Milford.

Today’s event was a great opportunity to highlight all of the opportunities available to students after they graduate high school. A lot of times folks think college is the only option, but with us, you can go to college, learn a trade, and serve your community and nation. Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club for allowing us to come out and spread the Air National Guard word!

It’s been great having members of our unit also come out to events with us. This has been a fantastic opportunity to highlight different career fields, but also establish and maintain relationships with our current members, who are ultimately our greatest assets!

Today I was visiting my family in Pennsylvania and I passed by the very recruiting station I enlisted out of in 2014 in Lancaster, PA!

So much of my life changed when I walked through those doors 7+ years ago, and I had to take a moment to reflect on all of it.

I’m just really grateful to be here. 😊

I guess I can settle in, since I’m going to be here for a while… 😊

When I initially began my time in recruiting, it was considered a “temporary” tour, which means my orders here only lasted until 2023.

After that, I would then return back to my prior career field in Public Affairs.

Being a recruiter has been nothing short of amazing, rewarding and equally challenging, so I wasn’t ready to go back.

So I applied, interviewed and was selected to transition into a permanent position as a Production Recruiter for the Delaware Air National Guard!

I’m so incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve as YOUR local Air National Guard recruiter here in the First State, for the foreseeable future. I look forward to continuing working for you and with you!
