The weather may have tested us, but it did not dampen us. Loisaida showed up — resilient, joyful, rooted, and proud.
Thank you to every person who came out, danced, marched, sang, supported a vendor, checked in on a neighbor, brought their children, honored their elders, celebrated our artists, and helped carry this beloved tradition forward.
We also honor and thank this year’s Viva Loisaida! Awardees — Council Member Chris Marte, Naomi Peña, David Sanders, Chanel Elliott, and Destiny Mata — whose service, creativity, advocacy, and love for community embody the very spirit of Loisaida.
We are grateful to our community partners and friends, including Vision Urbana, Two Boots Pizza, Piragua Art Space, La Sala de Pepe y Foto Espacio, Dorill Initiative, Diaspora Pa’lante Collective, Cultura Pa’Lante, Bloque World, Palante Always Forward Podcast and Monte Cristo, LLC., Alphabet City B**r Co., Loisa Products, BioBus, PRIDA, Bronx Loyal Mobile Barber, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, LES Yearbook, Lower Eastside Girls Club, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space, Loisaida Foundry, Third Street Music School, Café Colmado, Thrive Collective, and all the volunteers, vendors, exhibitors, artisans, staff, production crews, neighbors, and cultural workers who helped make the day possible.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and supporters: Acacia Network, Popular Bank, Grand Street Settlement, Trinity Church Community Council, Lower Manhattan Presbyterian Hospital, El Bohío, Inc., Hispanic Federation, Green Mountain Energy, WellCare Medicare, MetroPlus Health, as well as the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), in partnership with the New York City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
