rk, members of the IUBAC Local 1, NY have built and restored some of the most iconic buildings in New York City and Long Island including the Empire State Building, St. Patrick's Catherdral, the Chrysler Building, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Grand Central Terminal, Yankee Stadium, Citi Field and the World Trade Center Memorial. We continue to build as our predecessors did – laying block and brick, setting stone, plastering, pointing, caulking and cleaning – with individual units of material, piece by piece to create a tight, masterful and lasting structure.

The iconic Chrysler Building features approximately 3.8 million hand-laid bricks in its exterior masonry, proving that even the world's most recognizable skyscrapers rely on the skill and precision of expert masonry.

Behind every landmark stands generations of dedicated union craftspeople whose work continues to shape our cities—one brick at a time. 🧱💪

September is Su***de Prevention Month, an important reminder that the strength of BAC Local 1 NY goes beyond the skill and craftsmanship of our members, t’s also found in the way we look out for one another.

On the job and beyond, our union brothers and sisters should know they never have to face a difficult time alone. Sometimes a simple conversation, checking in on a fellow member, or taking the time to listen can make a meaningful difference.

Solidarity means having each other’s backs—in our work and in life.
Together, we support. Together, we stand strong. Together, we can help save lives.

🚨 ATTENTION ALL BAC LOCAL 1 MEMBERS! 🚨
Check Your NYC DOB Certifications & Worker Cards
Make sure your NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) certifications and SST/Worker Wallet cards are up to date! These credentials are just as important as the tools you use on the job — and they’re required for all projects within the five boroughs.
We’ve seen too many members removed from sites due to expired certifications, causing setbacks for both you and the contractors. Don’t let that happen — take a minute right now to check your cards and confirm everything is current.
Your attention to this keeps our projects running safely and on schedule.
✅ Stay certified. Stay ready. Stay Union Strong.

Happening Today
United in Solidarity IUBAC 🇺🇸

Today, we ride together. Today, we support one another.

The 11th Annual Trowel Trade Relief Ride is happening today in the beautiful Catskill Region of New York!

In cooperation with:
BAC Local 1 NY
BAC Local 2 NY/VT
BAC Local 3 NY
BAC Local 7 NY/NJ

We are proud to come together as brothers and sisters of the trowel trades to support the BAC Disaster Relief Fund and help fellow members and families during times of need.

This ride represents something much bigger than motorcycles. It represents the values that unite our trades:

Solidarity. Brotherhood & Sisterhood. Community. Giving back.

Thank you to all of today’s riders, members, families, sponsors, volunteers, officers, and friends of BAC whose participation and generosity make this incredible event possible.

Have a safe ride, enjoy the day, and remember:

RIDE UNION PROUD!

Together we ride. Together we care. Together we are stronger.

Progress did not happen overnight. It was built by generations of women who organized, advocated, worked, and refused to be left out of the conversation.

This Women’s Equality Day, we recognize the historic fight for women’s right to vote and the generations of women who continued pushing for equality in every part of society, including our workplaces, unions, and the labor movement.

Their fight created lasting change. Their impact continues today.
