4th Day Sunflower 🌻

On the third day after planting, your sunflower should look like this. This means the sunflower is ready to uncover. It also means that you can begin watering your sunflower from the bottom.

Important note: make sure not to over-water. You can spritz the sprouts from above but watering heavy from above can cause the sunflower to drown.

Sunflower on Days 2 & 3 🌻

After letting our seeds drain overnight, the next important step is to rinse them.

You want to rinse the seeds 2-3 times, at which point you should begin to see little tails on the ends of the seed. This means they’re ready to plant.

Make sure after you plant your seeds, that you water them heavy from above with a garden or kitchen hose. This allows the seeds to soak up the water because at this point in the growth process they don’t yet have roots.

Important note: Make sure to cover your seeds for the first three days after planting. This helps to keep the seeds moist while they germinate. 🌱

Today we're getting our sunflower seeds ready to plant! This is how we do it:

Using just a regular bucket you can pick up your local hardware store, just fill with the amount of seed you want and then fill the bucket with warm water until the seeds are completely covered.

Important fact: Since sunflower seeds are so light, they tend to float when the bucket is filled with water, so you want to make sure you place a towel on top of the seeds and push it down to assure all the seeds are under water. This is important because it'll help ensure optimal germination.
