Tattoo Artist – Room Rental or Tiered Commission
Dakota Dream Tattoos in Fargo, North Dakota is looking for an experienced, professional tattoo artist to join the shop.
This position is structured to give artists flexibility based on where they are in their career. Artists may choose between a flat-rate room rental or a tiered commission structure with weekly pay. Agreements are reviewed every six months, giving artists the opportunity to change compensation structures as their clientele and production grow.
Compensation Options
Room Rental: $650/month
Artists choosing room rental keep 100% of their tattoo revenue.
Private artist space is available, including a furnished room as well as a larger unfurnished space. Room-rental artists operate independently, manage their own clientele and schedule, and provide their own tattoo supplies and equipment.
Wi-Fi and access to shared shop areas are included.
Tiered Commission with Weekly Pay
Artists who prefer commission pay no monthly room rent.
Commission is determined by weekly collected tattoo sales:
60% artist commission on weekly production under $1,300
65% artist commission on weekly production of $1,300–$1,699
70% artist commission on weekly production of $1,700+
Artists are paid weekly.
The commission structure is designed to give artists a lower-risk way to establish or grow their clientele while rewarding higher production.
Six-Month Contract Flexibility
Compensation agreements are reviewed every six months.
At each renewal period, artists may request to transition between commission and room rental based on their business needs, performance, and room availability.
An artist may therefore begin on commission while developing a stronger client base and later transition to the $650/month rental model when keeping 100% of their revenue becomes more advantageous.
What We’re Looking For
Dakota Dream Tattoos is looking for an artist who is dependable, professional, sanitary, client-focused, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
Established clientele is preferred, but it is not an absolute requirement. Artists who are actively building their clientele and can demonstrate strong tattooing fundamentals, professionalism, and consistent effort are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a professional portfolio demonstrating healed and fresh work. Applicants must meet all applicable licensing, health, sanitation, and professional requirements necessary to tattoo legally in Nort=0About the Opportunity
This is intended to be a long-term position rather than a short-term guest spot.
The structure is designed so an artist can grow without being permanently locked into a traditional commission arrangement. Artists with developing clientele have the security of commission-based compensation, while established artists have the option of predictable monthly overhead and keeping 100% of their tattoo income.
