Are you collecting rejection emails from potential employers like Pokémon cards? 🫠

If your interviews look like this, stop winging it and try this instead 👇

✨ Have a direction (not a life crisis)�→ pick a next step, not your whole life plan (ex: “move into a manager role,” “become a senior specialist,” “lead projects”)�→ show you’re progressing, not just existing

✨ Keep it relevant�→ tie your answer to this job (ex: if it’s a team lead role, talk about leading people)�→ mention skills this job builds (leadership, sales, operations, etc.)

✨ Sound confident, not chaotic�→ say it like it’s already in motion: “I see myself…” not “maybe… I think…”�→ avoid “idk” energy

✨ Example answer:�“In 5 years, I see myself in a management role where I’m leading a high performing team, helping grow the department, and driving measurable results like improving performance and contributing to revenue growth. I also want to keep developing my leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills so I can make a bigger impact within the company.”

Let’s clear up some myths about Career Services real quick 🌝

1️⃣ “It must cost a fortune.”
Nope. $0. Nada. Nothing. You already earned it years ago by knocking on all those doors.

2️⃣ “You only place people with Southwestern Family of Companies.”
Not even close. In the past 5 years, almost half the people we placed landed roles with 30+ companies outside SW.

3️⃣ “You only work with college students.”
We met you in college, sure, but we work with alumni at every stage. From associate level roles all the way up to C-suite.

4️⃣ “Career Services can’t help me because they don’t specialize in my field.”
We’ve placed people in accounting, marketing, construction management, and more. And since we stay connected with alumni around the world, even if we can’t place you directly in a new job, we can often connect you with someone in the field you want.
