Job Description

We’re hiring an experienced Process Engineer to contribute to the growth of the Engineering team while providing support production team.

This position has primary responsibility for managing consumer and other packaging projects from concept through production, including project scope development, drawing development and approval, equipment and project specifications, project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Position reports to the Plant Engineer and will be responsible for supporting and leading the process engineering requirements for projects and production improvement.

Engineering:

Production process improvement; continuously evaluate and modify existing packaging equipment, processes and components to improve efficiency and cost.

Develop and implement solutions to day-to-day and longer term operating issues.

Examples: Decreasing down-time on blending machines, processes; decrease scrap rates/increase volume; decrease wash and cleaning times; increase efficiency.

Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure that product launches meet deadlines and cost requirements.

Plan, monitor and evaluate production trials for new packaging materials and components.

Respond to manufacturing issues as they arise and implement appropriate solutions.

Provide process technical support for other areas of the production facility as needed.

Within scope of responsibilities, understand and conform to food safety and HACCP guidelines.

Work closely with sales team, customers and production teams to design and implement solutions to customer packaging challenges.

Types of packaging includes (but is not limited to) cartons, pouches, bags, boxes, bulk bags, bulk bags, drums

Important Relationships

Sales, customers, other plant management: to collaborate on new projects, as well as process improvements and contributing to the overall optimal operation of the plant.

Plant personnel: to discuss processes and review equipment and to train on new projects and processes.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing facility

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the food and beverage industry

Consumer packaging experience required

Excellent computer skills including AutoCAD

Strong project management and problem-solving skills

Willingness and ability to work with a culturally rich and diverse workforce

Responsibilities

Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory

Monitor inventory operations company-wide to ensure adherence to procedures

Maintain item master data in Epicor’s Prophet 21 ERP

Develop inventory analysis reports and analyze variances

Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventories

Verifying accurate moving-average costs

Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger

Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability

Job Requirements

Advanced Excel skills (including formulas, pivot tables and macros)

Our client is a family owned bedrock employer - steel processing service center.

They are a supplier, wholesaler and processor of steel coil and sheets selling directly to OEMS that make millions of household products, such as autos, bikes, motorcycles, appliances, tools, lawn and garden equipment, engines, and computers.

This position is full-time outside sales role that is an integral part of the experienced and knowledgeable sales team. Or client offers excellent compensation, commissions, car allowance, cell phone, bonuses and benefits. This role will develop relationships and customers covering Illinois and eastern Iowa.

Job Requirements

10 or more years of outside industrial sales experience in Illinois, selling to steel mills and manufacturers of products that utilize hot or cold-rolled steel in the production of the products (automotive, appliance, computers, lawn and garden, hardware, electronics)

10 or more years of selling CARBON steel coils or sheets, selling directly to OEM manufacturers in Illinois

Account Management, lead nurturing and relationship-building strengths

Strong closing skills

Discipline, persistence, drive to succeed

Ability to communicate with decision-makers of all levels

Ability to adjust conversation to the selling situation or customer service issue

Deep steel knowledge and strong math skills are required

Proficient PC skills are required: MS Office Suites, CRM, Outlook and e-mail

Strong documentation and organizational skills

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Any engineering experience is a plus

Ability to travel regionally as needed to cover clients and prospects in Chicago, all of Illinois and eastern Iowa
