Applying to 75 jobs is not a strategy.

Especially when half of them have nothing to do with your experience.

More applications do not automatically equal more opportunities.

A better approach:

Know what you are targeting.
Understand the qualifications.
Tailor your résumé.
Use your network.
Apply with intention.

If you are separating or retiring from the military, please hear me:

Your transition should not start when your countdown gets uncomfortable.

Do not wait until the last few months to:

Update your résumé.
Fix your LinkedIn.
Research companies.
Learn about SkillBridge.
Build your network.
Practice interviewing.
Figure out what you actually want next.

Preparation creates options.

Waiting creates pressure.

And pressure will have you applying to everything with a salary attached to it.

Start early enough to make decisions instead of reacting to deadlines.

Your transition date may be later. Your preparation starts now.

Some proud-mom moments just hit differently. 💙

Seeing my son in that red vest is definitely one of them.

I was at Lowe’s first, and now he’s building his own journey here too.

Different paths. Same company. Same family.

And yes, I’m still taking a little credit. 😉

There’s something so special about watching your child grow, work, and create a story of their own in a place that has already been part of yours.

Proud mama moment, for sure. 💙

Say it with me:

My MOS is not my entire professional identity.

Your military job title is one piece of the story.

Employers also care about:

Leadership.
Operations.
Training.
Logistics.
Project management.
Communication.
Problem solving.
Safety.
Technology.
Accountability.

Do not walk into your transition saying:

“I was just a…”

Nope.

We are retiring that sentence.

Your job is to understand the value behind what you did and communicate it in language employers understand.

Stop shrinking your experience down to a military job code.

PSA:

“I need a job” is not a networking introduction.

I know you need a job.

Tell me something that helps me understand where you fit.

Try this instead:

“I’m transitioning from the military with experience leading teams, managing operations, and solving problems in high-pressure environments. I’m exploring opportunities in operations and supply chain.”

See the difference?

One asks someone to figure everything out for you.

The other gives them something to work with.

Make it easier for people to help you.

Know your story.
Know your strengths.
Know what you are targeting.

Then start the conversation.

Comment on posts.
Introduce yourself.
Attend the event.
Ask questions.
Stay connected.

You need people who know who you are, what you do, and what value you bring.
