LET'S TALK:
Asking for help isn't a sign you don't belong there.
A lot of people hold back questions because they don't want to look like they don't know what they're doing. So they guess. They push through. They hope it works out.
And sometimes it does.
But more often, a small question that could've taken 30 seconds turns into a mistake that takes hours to fix — or worse, becomes a safety issue.
Here's what supervisors actually think when you ask for help early:
✔ They care about doing the job right
✔ They're paying attention
✔ They're thinking ahead
✔ They want to improve
That's what a question signals. Not weakness — judgment.
Now, there's a right way to do it:
👉 Try first. Don't ask before you've made any attempt.
👉 Pay attention to what's happening around you.
👉 Think it through. What have you seen? What makes sense?
👉 Then ask — once you've genuinely hit a wall.
The ones who struggle are usually the ones who either ask about everything without trying, or never ask at all and quietly fall behind. Neither works.
The ones who move up try first, think it through, and ask smart questions when they need to.
