An Aircraft landing gear, often called the undercarriage, is the critical system of wheels, struts, and other components that supports an aircraft when it is not flying. Its primary purpose is to enable safe takeoff, landing, and ground maneuvering by absorbing the massive kinetic energy generated during touchdown. Most modern aircraft use retractable tricycle gear (nose wheel + main gear) for stability and braking, while older or bush planes may use conventional (tailwheel) gear.
