Transparent Moment Below
⬇️⬇️⬇️
Anyone who knows me personally, knows I am an extremely private person but, with such an extensive hiatus from social media, I feel obligated to share…
The first day of this year started out tragically for me and my family, and honestly I’m still trying to cope and pick up the pieces…
But, I am still standing and I’m still here.
Things I’ve learned
📍It’s okay to not be okay…
📍Having an employer that truly gives you “uninterrupted” time to grieve and handle unexpected business is invaluable…
📍Having a boss that truly cares is a blessing
📍Having clients that care more about my well being than their projects is mind blowing.
📍Having a loyal following, a trusted brand, and dedicated subscriber base is critical for business
📍Unapologetically step away from projects and organizations that don’t value you as a human first and your work second
📍As an entrepreneur having systems and a dedicated team is necessary
A 3-4 month hiatus from social media and marketing is unheard of for someone me. Yet, my business has been thriving from repeat customers, referrals, and impactful content…
I would never recommend an entrepreneur step away like this, but Im thankful the work I’ve put in over the years has allowed me this type of success.
I had clients I offered to refer to other industry leaders who refused to work with anyone else and waited on me. I had other clients who sent prayers and gifts… (I have no idea how they knew, but they did)
I have spent my career as a double minority, a Black Woman, who has felt I have always had to have it together at every moment. I’ve been pressured to always be polished and have never had an opportunity to not be on point…
Fortunately, I didn’t drop any balls due to systems I have in place, BUT life happens!
It’s okay to take a moment to just breath and reset… It is okay to put yourself first…
And pushing all of the societal pressures aside, I did exactly that! I love what I do as a professional and an entrepreneur but doing what I do supports my family… Taking time away for me and them was critical!
I am truly appreciative of the overwhelming support these past few months and I cannot wait to get everyone updated on what I’ve been working on, more client success stories, and my opinions on all things career related!
