NAMI Kentucky: Buffalo Trace Affiliate

NAMI Kentucky: Buffalo Trace Affiliate Join us the 2nd Tuesday at 6:00pm in the Mason County Public Library. We meet the second Tuesday each month at 6:00pm in the Mason County Public Library.

NAMI is the "National Alliance on Mental Illness" and this is the official page of the Buffalo Trace Affiliate servicing the counties of Lewis, Mason, Fleming, Bracken, and Robertson. NAMI Ky. Buffalo Trace Affiliate aligns our goals with that of NAMI Ky. The families and members of NAMI Kentucky are here to help! We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment

of mental illness. Mental illnesses are brain disorders that are biologically based medical problems. Untreated, they can cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. This results in substantially diminished capacity for dealing with the ordinary demands of life. Mental illness can affect persons of any age and occur in any family. They are not caused by bad parenting and not evidence of weakness of character. Mission:
Dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education and advocacy. Our Goals:
Advocate at the county, state and national levels for non-discriminatory access to quality healthcare, housing, education and employment for people with mental illness. Educate the public about mental illness. Work to eliminate the stigma of mental illness. Advocate for increased funding for research into the causes and treatment of mental illness. Our Vision:
In our envisioned future mental illness will no longer thwart a person’s fulfillment of his or her potential. With early pinpoint diagnoses, interventions and targeted medications and services there is no pervasive disability. Ultimately, we envision a day when prevention or a cure is found.

Update on an awesome campaign that launched in May.

Throughout the month of May, the Buffalo Trace Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living celebrated Older Americans Month with a special focus on “Champion Your Health” because every senior deserves a safe, healthy, and cool summer.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community partners who donated new fans and monetary contributions, to ensure that seniors throughout our region will have additional resources to help stay comfortable during the hot summer months. These donations provide more than relief from the heat—they support prevention, promote wellness, and empower older adults to take charge of their health and well-being.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this important effort and helped make a difference in the lives of seniors across the Buffalo Trace Area.

The Agency is continuing to take donations of new fans, as well as monetary donations. As temperatures begin to increase, so does the need to support and protect the seniors in our communities. If you would like to make a donation, please reach out to 606-564-6894 and asked to speak with a member of the Department Aging and independent living.

We’d like to say a special thank you to the dedicated staff of the Buffalo Trace’s Agency of Aging and Independent Living for all their hard work, compassion, and unwavering commitment to serving older adults throughout our region. Your efforts help improve quality of life and ensure that our seniors receive the support, resources, and care they deserve.

Together, we are making our communities stronger, healthier, and more supportive for older Americans.

I’m looking forward to this event with NAMI Kentucky: Buffalo Trace Affiliate. Mental health is a key component in preventing crime. And it’s a necessary tool for the successful recovery of many who’ve committed crimes in addiction. No family is immune from the struggles of trying to get help for someone they know who is struggling with mental health. Join us Saturday. Music by the Hay Brothers.
