Congratulations to John O’Mara, Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer on his well deserved retirement!
John has had 42 years of service, 25 years in the office, 33 years as an officer, and the last 15 years as our BM. John has had a hell of a career but his dedication to this local is unreal. He has done so much to make Local 562 better than it was when he started. He has made many changes that positively impacted each and every member. John has made sure no member was ever alone, members families were taken care, and worked each day to make sure our members would continue to be taken care of. John’s community outreach through our Local was so important he always wanted the community to know we are all one and we must take care of each other.
John has negotiated many contracts, built and maintained a relationship with our contractor partners, met with owners and built relationships that impact our every day work, carried many titles, saw things many of us will never see, and remained true to himself during it all. John has been a leader that heard everyone out, loved seeing the excitement of the new generation, had unbelievable pride in each member and the work they do every day, always treated people as an equal, was never above anyone around him, and genuinely cared about each member and their family.
To the UA representatives that came and showed their true happiness for John, we thank you!!! Mike Pleasant, Assistant General President, Mike Mikich, Anthony Gallagher, Chad Gilbert, Tom Gross, and Barbara Hall it was an honor to have you there!
John thank you for all the hard work and fearless leadership! Thank you for the care you had for each member and the care you have the UA and MINK. You deserve all the relaxation and endless family time! We truly can never thank you enough but we are beyond happy for you. Cheers to you and cheers to a long and healthy retirement 🫶🏻
