"Unfortunately, ghosting has become more common (up to 75% of job seekers have said they've been ghosted after an interview). Sometimes the role gets paused or closed and no one communicates it.

To try to prevent this, at the end of the interview ask, 'What are next steps and when should I expect to hear back?' Then send a strong thank you email reiterating your interest. A solid thank you note can make you stay top of mind to the hiring manager.

Consider partnering with an agency recruiter. We're always transparent about status and feedback with our candidates."

"Multiple job hops might raise a few questions, but it’s not a deal breaker. You've had a steady resume which shows you're committed and a hard worker. So it's all about framing your job history correctly.

Hiring managers care about the why behind your moves, so be transparent. Use your resume to clarify short-term roles by noting '6-month contract' next to your title.

Don’t underestimate the power of a well-written cover letter. If your work history looks choppy at first glance, the cover letter gives you the opportunity to explain your career path more thoughtfully.

Consistency in how you tell your story matters more than your job count. Keep it positive and focused on the value you bring."

In 1994, Congress designated MLK Day as a national day of service, honoring Dr. King's belief that "everybody can be great because everybody can serve."

It's a call to give back to our communities.

For us, that means creating opportunities where talent meets possibility, where hard work is rewarded, and where everyone gets a fair shot.

If you are looking for ways to make an impact, we encourage your support of the following organizations that directly make a difference in the Greater Philadelphia region.

The Wardrobe Philadelphia - Providing clothing and career resources to break down barriers to advancement.

The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia - Offers services to alleviate hunger, provide housing, empower youth, and more.

Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia - Supports children by providing the essentials like clothing, diapers, and books.

Chester County Food Bank - Distributes food to those in need, serving more than 100 community partners.

Home of the Sparrow - Pennsylvania - Pennsylvania - Provides secure housing for single women, mothers, and their children.

May Dr. King's words continue to spark inspiration and motivation in us all.

"It can be overwhelming think about upskilling, especially since there is such a wide area and different opportunity of focus. I think its important to remind yourself that upskilling doesn’t mean learning everything at once.

The key is to focus on skills that align with where you are now, and where you want to go next. If you are unsure, you can start by looking at job descriptions to see what tools or qualifications come up repeatedly in the roles you are targeting.

You can also ask a recruiter or mentor what they’re seeing in the market.

If you're aiming to move up in operations, consider upskilling in project management, automation and AI, or advanced Excel. Pick one skill to start. Once you’ve identified an area of focus, determine if there is opportunity in your current role to take on more and grow your skillset.

If not, is it worth the investment of time to look for free or low-cost online courses to build it? Depending on your unique situation you could also ask your manager if your company has budget set aside for employee professional development.

Even small steps towards learning new skills can make a big difference in how competitive you are!"
