We have a client in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing realm that is looking for a hands-on, electrically-inclined and project driven “Automation-Controls Engineer” with a strong technical aptitude for one of their environmentally driven state-of-the-art operations.
The facility is located approximately a one-hour commute from central New York.
The Automation Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supervising all aspects of electrical control and automation control systems, with a focus on programmable logic controller (PLC) programming and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems and possess a strong understanding of industrial automation processes. The Automation Controls Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop efficient and reliable automation solutions in support of the company's operational objectives.
Experience working in the process controls and material handling industries is highly desirable, but not required.

Role: On-Site / Full time / Direct Hire
Location: Southeastern New York State (North of New Jersey-New York Border)
(~ 10-20 miles from Port Jervis, Newburgh and Monticello / ~ 50 miles from Newark, NJ)
Compensation: Base pay will depend on the level and years of experience that the applicant brings to the table. The position also offers a target bonus potential.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role will be a part of the team involved in designing, procuring, programming, installing and testing of electrical, electronic control, and automation systems including equipment needed for sensing and controlling process parameters and troubleshooting manufacturing systems.
The position will have no direct reports but there is an expectation for this person to provide technical guidance and direction to others including plant industrial electricians and contractors within a manufacturing facility.
IDEAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants with experience in any PLC Controls fields could be considered. The ideal candidate will check off as many of the boxes below. However, the client will consider applicants that don’t possess every area of knowledge as long as they’re upfront about their strengths / weaknesses going into the interview process.
• Four-year Engineering / Technical degree and/or equivalent experience.
BS in Electrical, Electronic, Electro-Mechanical, Automation, Robotics, Computer Engineering / Science, or similar technical discipline.
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Practical electrical / instrumentation / controls experience in a manufacturing-industrial setting
• Processing Equipment and Instrumentation Controls Installation / Setup / Maintenance. Experience with automation programming / programming PLC’s and sensing devices.
• The ability to design and develop all aspects of electrical & electronic control systems, equipment, and machinery.
• Work experience with Allen Bradley Hardware and Software.
• Experience with HMI development and configuration.
• FactoryTalk SE programming experience.
• Experience with designing and/or implementing SCADA software.
• Working understanding of design, layout, and use of current networks such as DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet/IP and Modbus.
• Understanding of HART protocol.
• Experience within an AutoCAD environment is a plus.
• Strong communication & problem-solving skills.
