Coalition to Lift Every Voice and Vote

Coalition to Lift Every Voice and Vote The Coalition to Lift Every Voice and Vote is a Dallas County-wide effort to increase civic engagement of the Rising American Electorate.

WHO WE ARE:

THE COALITION TO LIFT EVERY VOICE AND VOTE- SU VOTO ES SU VOZ is a collaborative coalition focused on engaging underrepresented communities in civic participation. It will focus its effort on the "Rising American Electorate," those who are aged 18-35; Hispanic/Latino; African American, or single women. Coalition members are the Dallas Peace Center, NAACP Dallas and CitySquare

WHAT WE

DO:

The effort will engage North Texans by leveraging the leaderships of faith based organizations, educational institutions, community centers, and other communities of influence. While the coalition's initial focus will be on the fall general election, the underlying purpose of this effort is to lay a foundation for long term civic engagement by a broader group of North Texans than currently are engaged. HOW WE DO IT:

Strategies for empowerment and getting out the vote this fall will include outreach trainings, home meetings, neighbor connections, radio interviews, print and e-newsletters, door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, staffing of community events, social networking, and values-based messaging that can carry over into the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, which begins January 8, 2013.
