💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜
At Shore House, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued in their community. This month, we recognize the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence, supporting survivors, and connecting individuals with resources that can help.
We’re proud to highlight 180 Turning Lives Around , a local Monmouth County organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence and providing support to survivors and their families.
Whether someone needs crisis support, safety planning, counseling, or help navigating their next steps, 180 Turning Lives Around offers compassionate, confidential services to help individuals move toward safety and healing.

Today, we recognize World Mental Health Day and the millions of people around the world living with mental illness.​ At Shore House, we believe mental health recovery is about more than managing symptoms. It’s about having a place where you belong. A place where you are needed, wanted, and expected. A place where you can build friendships, discover purpose, develop skills, pursue employment, and know that your community is better because you’re part of it.​ Every day, our members remind us that recovery is possible—and that no one should have to walk that journey alone. This World Mental Health Day, help us break down stigma, start conversations, and create communities where everyone has the opportunity to feel connected and valued.

In honor of World Mental Health Day, join Shore House and Mental Health Association of Monmouth County for a Community Conversation and panel discussion exploring the importance of connection, community, and belonging in mental health and recovery.

Moderated by Dr. Robin Mama, Dean Emerita of the School of Social Work at Monmouth University and former Shore House board member, this conversation will bring together mental health professionals, advocates, and community leaders to discuss how we can reduce isolation, break down stigma, and build a more inclusive and supportive community for all.

We’re cooking up something new at Shore House! Introducing Guest Chef — a new volunteer opportunity inviting local chefs, bakers, and food enthusiasts to join our members in the kitchen to prepare a delicious meal, share recipes, and teach new culinary skills.

Our kitchen is about so much more than food. It’s a place to build confidence, learn together, share responsibilities, and create meaningful connections. ❤️
