Meet Ally! π
What inspired you to choose pharmacy as a career? π
"Pharmacy kind of chose me in the most unexpected way. During COVID, I started working at CVS as a pharmacy technician because I wanted to make an impact in the lives of others during such an uncertain time. As I worked in the pharmacy, I quickly fell in love with the profession despite all of the chaos surrounding the world at the time. I realized that medications are so much more than just pills being dispensed. Each prescription represents a person, a story, and someone trying to live a healthier and happier life. Seeing the direct impact pharmacists can have on patients inspired me to pursue pharmacy as a career."
Why did you choose your pharmacy school? π
"Belmont offered so much more than I could have imagined. The moment I stepped onto campus, I knew it was where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life, especially being located in such a vibrant city. During my interview day, I already felt like part of a family. The faculty and staff were incredibly welcoming and supportive, and I knew I would feel comfortable going to them for guidance and support throughout my journey in pharmacy school."
What advice would you give to someone starting pharmacy school? π‘
"Pharmacy school will challenge you in many ways, and there may be moments when you feel overwhelmed or want to give up. Balancing school, work, relationships, and personal responsibilities is not easy, and trying to manage everything at once can feel overwhelming. One of the biggest strengths I gained throughout pharmacy school was perseverance and resilience. Donβt let failure stop you from pursuing what you love. Instead, use those moments to grow and keep pushing forward. Most importantly, remember that you are more than just a student. Give yourself grace, take care of yourself, and make time for the person you are outside of pharmacy school as well."
