Memorial Day approaches, and across our nation folks will gather for barbecues, parades, pool openings, and time with family and friends, the traditional beginning of summer.
Yet, Memorial Day is far more than a long weekend…
As our nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary, we pause to remember the true cost of freedom.
Every generation has its heroes.
Every family has its story.
Our birthright as Americans was secured through their sacrifice.
Today, we remember the sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, friends and neighbors who answered the call to serve with honor, courage, and sacrifice.
We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families who shared them with our nation...
May we never take such sacrifice for granted.
President Ronald Reagan often reminded our nation that freedom is neither automatic nor without sacrifice:
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
“We owe them a debt we can never repay.”
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
— John 15:13
