☕ Barista – University of Kentucky Starbucks
Location: University of Kentucky – Starbucks, Lexington, KY
Schedule: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities | Multiple Shifts Available
Job Summary
We are looking for friendly, dependable Baristas to join the Starbucks team at the University of Kentucky! Baristas prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and food items while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

6:30 AM–2:30 PM
7:00 AM–3:00 PM
8:00 AM–4:00 PM
9:00 AM–5:00 PM
10:00 AM–6:00 PM
10:00 AM–5:30 PM
Monday–Thursday
1:00 PM–8:00 PM
2:00 PM–9:00 PM
3:00 PM–11:00 PM
5:00 PM–11:00 PM
Weekend
Saturday: 9:30 AM–5:30 PM
Sunday: 9:30 AM–5:30 PM
Sunday: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Prepare espresso, coffee, and other beverages using standard recipes and measurements.
Accurately enter customer orders into the POS system and process cash and card payments.
Provide fast, friendly, and courteous customer service.
Replenish beverages, condiments, supplies, and merchandise as needed.
Maintain clean, organized, and attractive service and display areas.
Follow food preparation, portion control, temperature, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
Prepare and display food items according to established recipes and production standards.
Maintain and clean equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout the shift.
Learn daily menu items and confidently answer customer questions.
Assist customers with selections and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
Ensure food and beverages are presented attractively and served efficiently.
Communicate customer concerns or issues to supervisors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous barista, coffee shop, restaurant, food service, or customer service experience is preferred.
Must be friendly, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to follow recipes, instructions, food safety procedures, and established standards.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Must meet applicable state and local food-handler requirements and possess a valid Food Handler Permit.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive hand movements as needed.
