When manufacturers compare staffing agencies, the comparison usually focuses on what happens after submission: how quickly candidates are presented, how responsive the account manager is, how smooth the onboarding runs.

Those things matter, but they don't predict whether a placement will stay past 90 days.

That's determined earlier, before a resume reaches you. Skills assessments, reference verification, and fit evaluation all happen before submission, and whether an agency treats those steps as essential or optional makes a measurable difference in what shows up on your floor.

We broke down where the real differences live. Link in the comments.

Frequent vendor changes create a cycle of constant rebuilding.

Every new partner repeats the same learning curve, and the relationship never reaches the point where accumulated knowledge actually improves hiring speed, candidate quality, and operational alignment.

A staffing partnership compounds over time. The longer a partner understands your operation, your standards, and your workforce, the more every search benefits from that depth rather than starting over. That's the part that doesn't show up in a new vendor's pitch deck.

More on what that actually costs in the comments.

Tomorrow is International Charity Day, a reminder that generosity shows up in small moments as much as big ones.

It might be a coworker covering a shift so someone can make it to a family event, a manager who takes the time to really listen, or a team that shows up for each other when it counts. We see this every day in the workplaces we're part of, and it never stops meaning something. 🤍

Whatever charity day looks like for you this year, we hope it's a good one.

If you've been applying to manufacturing and logistics roles without hearing back, the issue probably isn't your experience. Employers in these verticals have shifted what they're screening for.

SHRM data shows 78% of HR professionals now factor skills-based credentials into hiring decisions, up from 72% in 2021, as part of a broader move away from title-first evaluation.

What employers look for is changing.

Reliability. Comfort with technology. Clear availability. Those signals can matter before you ever reach an interview.

The candidates getting noticed know what employers are screening for now, not what worked a few years ago.

The lowest staffing rate does not always deliver the lowest workforce cost.

Missed shifts, inconsistent communication, and frequent turnover can create operational disruptions that outweigh short-term savings.

The article in the comments explores the factors employers should consider when comparing staffing partners beyond pricing.

A low show rate in staffing almost always gets blamed on the same thing: the candidate pool.

Fewer reliable people are looking, the thinking goes, so a better batch of applicants should fix it. That explanation feels reasonable because it matches what you're seeing on your floor.

The problem is where it points. It puts the cause outside your control and outside your staffing partner's control, so nothing about the process changes.

But the workers who accepted the offer are the same ones who didn't show, which means the pool was never really the problem.

Something happened in the window between offer acceptance and day one, and that window belongs to a process.

We broke down where show rate actually breaks down. Link in the comments.

Hyperscalers like Meta and Google are building data centers at a pace the workforce simply can't keep up with.

In markets like Kansas City alone, construction employment grew 9.3% last year, and individual campuses are pulling 1,500+ skilled workers at peak demand.

Meanwhile, retirements are outpacing the apprenticeship pipeline.

If you're in manufacturing, distribution, or construction, this directly affects your ability to hire and retain. And it affects what you need to pay to stay competitive.

The benchmarks are in our 2026 Mid-Year Salary Guide.

What can event staffing teach mid-market employers?

A lot.

High-volume event staffing depends on three things:

→ Fast response
→ Reliable attendance
→ Clear communication

Those same fundamentals keep manufacturing, distribution, and other operations moving.

The best staffing processes work at any scale.

See what mid-market employers can learn from event staffing and which workforce metrics employers should be asking about in the article linked in the comments.

Most companies don't set out to work with six different staffing agencies. It happens gradually.

One vendor for warehouse roles, another for office, someone else for IT, and before long you're managing relationships, contracts, and billing cycles across a long list.

That overhead isn't just administrative. Every additional vendor means another set of standards to align, another onboarding process to manage, another relationship where context about your business gets rebuilt from scratch every time a new req lands.

Consolidating to a partner with genuine depth across verticals changes the equation.

One point of contact who already knows your operation, your standards, and your history beats a roster of specialists who each only see one part of the picture.

If it's time to simplify, start at the link in the comments.

Opening with "25 years of experience in..." puts age front and center before the reader has any reason to care. It's one of the most common ways experienced candidates inadvertently trigger the bias they're trying to avoid.

Leading with outcomes and recent relevant work changes the dynamic. So does proactively addressing assumptions about technology, demonstrating a growth mindset, and working with a recruiter who advocates for experienced talent before you even get to the interview.

The full playbook is in the comments.
