MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Pay Depending on experience $28-$32 per hour
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing maintenance service and repairs such as but not limited to plumbing and machine servicing and should possess basic electrical knowledge as required in a production environment. Additionally, this position must be able to run a shift off hours with little to no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Performs all duties in a safe manner to include keeping the work area clean & neat, and the use of the “LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedure when required. If any unsafe conditions are identified in or outside the HMP facility, these items need to be brought to the attention of Maintenance Supervisor immediately.
2. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications.
3. Aids in repairing mechanical equipment and physical structures.
4. Performs plumbing for commercial or industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
5. Participates in training programs as required.
6. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose problem or repair machine. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to detect malfunction and/or locate causes of trouble.
7. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and installs new or repaired parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
8. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, and plumb bobs in addition to restarting equipment to assure proper operation.
9. Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to repair parts.
10. Maintains work order log with parts used.
11. Installs and repairs electrical 480-volt, 260-volt, 120-volt and, 24-volt equipment, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment with assistance.
12. Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to fabricate and repair machines.
13. Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Maintenance Supervisor or Management.
14. Ensures that after completion of a job, the job site is left clean.
15. Completes assigned work in a timely manner to reduce down time in the production environment.
Required Skills & Abilities:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Must meet all qualifications of Maintenance Technician I.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• Ability to thread black, galvanized, and stainless-steel pipe.
• Ability to repair/rewire 2 and 3 wire circuits.
• Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
• Effectively utilize a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and write English proficiently and accurately.
• Ability to accurately measure and translate dimensional changes along with measurement conversions and calculations.
• Ability to work with tolerances of .25".
• Ability to use metric measurements.
• Ability to perform flat welds.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
• May be subject to on-call rotation as needed.
Physical Requirements:
• Physical agility to climb ladders, sweep, repeatedly get on and off the lift truck, walk on catwalks, and work at heights in excess of 15 feet and in confined spaces such as holding tanks.
• Ability to stand or sit in one place for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in areas where temperatures are in excess of 120˚ or below freezing.
• Must be able to safely lift 70 pounds.
