Did you know DeafBlind individuals often face invisibility in healthcare, social services, and public awareness? This week is DeafBlind Awareness week and we at CSD Works NV encourage you to research and learn more about ways to get involved locally, improve accessibility, and ensure equitable treatment of our DeafBlind community members and their families.

Have questions or share your experience about deafblindness or usher syndrome, leave a comment below!

A woman stands in front of a plain light-gray wall and communicates in sign language directly to the camera. She is wearing a black shirt and a necklace. Large yellow text appears on a black background at the top of the screen throughout the video. The video is filmed indoors with bright, even lighting and no visible distractions in the background.
Transcript:
I have Usher Syndrome, which is a form of DeafBlind. Both Usher Syndrome and DeafBlind exist on a spectrum, and every person's experience is different.
For me, that means I have usable vision and hearing in some situations, while also navigating challenges that many people may not realize. DeafBlind Awareness Week is June 25–July 1.
This week is about raising awareness, increasing understanding, and recognizing that DeafBlind people have diverse experiences, abilities, and ways of connecting with the world.
DeafBlind is not one-size-fits-all.
