In May, the winning ProStart Competition teams from Van Buren Tech, Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, and Wilson Talent Center attended the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago.

The foodservice and hospitality industry event featured over 600 exhibitors, live culinary demonstrations, and industry highlights, including the latest menu trends and business-boosting technologies.

Last month, the winning Tabletop Design team from Wilson Talent Center at the 2026 Michigan ProStart Competition scored a stay at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island!

For this year's Tabletop Design theme, Spring Has Sprung, teams were tasked with four components: developing a menu, developing a table setting, presenting the table and answering critical-thinking questions about their table.

The winning team from Wilson Talent Center included Finney Clarkson and Ruby Kring. Congratulations, and thank you to the Grand Hotel for providing this amazing prize package and judges for the competition! 👏

🌴 🎥 Take a look back at ProStart in Paradise! The event was a huge success, raising $11,000 with proceeds going towards scholarships, training and career development programs for Michigan’s hospitality students and workforce!

The tropical tasting experience featured pork belly skewers, spicy pulled pork bites, candied burnt end tacos, pineapple upside-down cake, and more, all crafted by ProStart students from Allegan Tech Center and Hastings High School.
