DMV Tradeswomen Community

DMV Tradeswomen Community We are a community of women in the skilled construction trades in the DMV area.

Our mission is to create a safe space and a platform to celebrate, support and unify women in construction within the DMV area. Our goal is to recruit, mentor, retain and develop women leaders who ultimately can affect change to improve wages and benefits, working conditions and the overall experience of women in male-dominated industries; In addition, providing a platform of resources that affect

women including information about childcare, community events, training, work opportunities, and more. This initiative looks to empower and strengthen women who recognize the barriers working in male-dominated fields but have the desire to help build a capacity of women in this industry and inspire the next generation of women.

Happy Women’s History Month!

Today, we celebrate the women who built before us, the women building beside us, and the women coming up behind us.

This month, we honor the trailblazers who broke barriers, the mentors who open doors, and the sisters who show up every day ready to work, lead, and lift each other up.

To every woman wearing boots, hard hats, tool belts, or running crews, you belong here. You are needed here. You are powerful here.

Let’s continue to support, train, hire, mentor, and stand together. When one of us rises, we all rise.

Here’s to unity.
Here’s to opportunity.
Here’s to women building the DMV and the future.

This Black History Month, we honor the Black trailblazers past and present who have built, fought, and led with courage in the face of barriers meant to hold them back.

Their impact lives on in every job site entered, every skill mastered, and every door opened for the next generation.

We celebrate the legacy. We recognize the work ahead. And we stay committed to building equity, opportunity, and belonging in the trades together.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader who stood for justice, dignity, and opportunity for all working people.

Dr. King believed that “all labor has dignity.” His words remind us that equity in the workplace, fair wages, safe job sites, and access to opportunity are civil rights issues. As tradeswomen, we carry that legacy forward every time we step onto a job site, advocate for one another, and create pathways for the next generation.

On this MLK Day, we recommit ourselves to building not just strong structures but strong communities rooted in fairness, respect, and collective power.

DMV Tradeswomen is proud to close out 2025 with our Heartbeats to Hardhats Holiday Event, in partnership with IUPAT DC51, highlighting the glazing industry and the incredible skill, precision, and craftsmanship of glass installers.

From hands-on learning to our Glass Christmas Tree project, spending the day with DC51 members, families, and affiliates reminded us why this work matters—building community, sharing knowledge, and opening doors to real opportunities in the trades.

Endless gratitude to IUPAT DC51, the Finishing Trades Institute, our volunteers, and everyone who continues to show up and support this mission.

Thank you—today and always. 💛 See you next year, DMV.

It is with heavy hearts that we at DMV Tradeswomen stand in solidarity with the family of Amber Czech and all women in the trades affected by violence on the job. Amber’s tragic loss is a sobering reminder of the risks that too many women face in male-dominated workplaces and in life.

💙 To Amber’s family: We extend our deepest condolences. Your pain is our pain. May you find strength, support, and peace in community.

đź’™To every tradeswoman: We all deserve safety, respect, and freedom from violence on the job. We see you. We hear you. And we are standing right beside you.

💙Let Amber’s legacy drive us forward toward a future where every woman in the trades can work without fear, thrive with respect, and build with confidence.
