We just wrapped up our annual Substitute Appreciation Event this Wednesday, and what a wonderful turnout we had! Our substitutes enjoyed some quality time, bonded with each other and principal mentors, and got to know one another through fun games and activities.
A huge thank you to Southwest Middle Academy for providing their wonderful space for our celebration. We were also thrilled to see so many substitutes brought donations for the Southwest Station—your generosity makes a real difference!
During the event, we also celebrated our Substitute Educator of the Year. Congratulations to our runner-up, Ms. Julia Swilley, and our winner, Ms. Elizabeth Blackshear! 🎉🎊
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. We hope you had a great time! For those who couldn’t make it, we truly look forward to seeing you next time.

✨ Substitute Paraeducator of the Month: Etienne Genevoix
Mr. G has gone above and beyond working in one of the behavior units. His incredible work ethic, kindness, and positive attitude have made him a favorite among both teammates and students. He is commended for building rapport with students, handling high-stress situations with grace, and always stepping up to help—even with extra cleaning! We’re grateful to have such a caring and dependable paraeducator on our team.
