Louisiana Chemical Association and Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance
Appoint Gregory Bowser President
October 31, 2016 – The Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) and Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance (LCIA) today announced the appointment of Gregory Bowser as president of the two organizations.
Bowser replaces Dan Borné, who is retiring after serving 28 years as head of the associations.
The LCA represents the interests of more than 60 chemical manufacturing companies with more than 100 locations in Louisiana. The LCIA is a group of more than 800 businesses that support the state’s chemical plants with products, services and supplies.
Bowser moves up to the presidency of the organizations after serving as Executive Vice President for LCA and LCIA since 2011. He joined the organizations in 1991 and has directed their governmental affairs activities.
In assuming his new role, Bowser becomes the first African American to lead a major Louisiana statewide business trade association.
Prior to entering the private sector, the Baldwin, La. native served as Gov. Buddy Roemer’s assistant chief of staff from 1988 to 1990 and was on the staff of former U.S. Rep. Jimmy Hayes (D-La) from 1986-87. The youngest of 15 children, he is a 1983 graduate of Louisiana State University where he lettered four years as a defensive lineman. He has also served as an analyst for Cox Sports Television, broadcasting LSU football games for more than ten years, and has participated in numerous community activities and organizations. He is married to the former Adrienne Boutte of New Iberia and they have two sons.
In making the announcement, Borné said he knows the organizations will be in good hands. “We have strong board governance,” he said, “and Greg is a natural to succeed me. He’s been my wingman for more than 25 years and has contributed so much to the success of the members of LCA, LCIA and our related organizations. His community involvement, the respect he has in the halls of government, his leadership and his dedication to growing chemical manufacturing in Louisiana will serve the industry, the state and its citizens well.”
“I am humbled by this tremendous opportunity to work with LCA and LCIA members in this capacity,” Bowser said. “The chemical industry and the businesses supporting the industry with products, services and supplies are key elements to the economic survival of Louisiana and its people. The challenges facing the industry are many, and so are the opportunities. I look forward to working with the industry on both,” he added.
