Cheers to 50 Years | Peachford Hospital, located in Dunwoody, GA, celebrated Elma Floyd’s 50-year milestone. Elma, Peachford’s Medical Records Manager, started work at the facility in November 1975. At that time, the hospital itself wasn’t even two years old. And since that time, Elma has been a stalwart member of the Peachford Team. She is known for arriving work early – sometimes as early as 4 a.m. – walking the halls to all 8 units of the hospital to gather charts and say hello to co-workers before most patients are even out of bed.

Say hello to Madeline Pearce! 👋 Madeline is an Application Analyst in the IS Department, specifically on the Business Integration team. She started her career with Universal Health Services, Inc. - UHS as an intern. During her summer internship, she enjoyed the weekly lunch-and-learns and saw it as a great opportunity to meet interns from different teams and learn about their work.

“With a company as large as UHS, trying to navigate the different responsibilities of those around you is difficult. Having different leaders take time each week to explain their teams’ responsibilities was super helpful. I think it is something that helped me transition into my role now, especially since I have found myself working with some of those teams on current projects,” Madeline shared.

She chose to work at UHS because of how comfortable she felt during the interview process and the free-flowing conversations during her interview.

“They felt more like a back-and-forth discussion than an interview. My first interview was with Alyson Eldon who pushed me to go for another internship position after learning what I was interested in. I felt heard during the process and ended up accepting the position she suggested and had a great time learning from my mentor Shawn Lewis,” she explained.

Madeline finds the relationships she has created with her coworkers the most rewarding part of the job.

“It is a great feeling to have people you look forward to seeing at work. When I accepted my full-time position, it meant moving away from the team. I held my internship with (a whole building away) but soon enough I made new friendships. Now no matter what building I am in, I know I can find a friendly face,” she said.

So, what advice would she give to a future intern? Ask one million and one questions! Being new to the corporate world can offer a fresh perspective on the way people currently think. Your question could lead to the next big idea.

Fun fact! In the fall, she coached a field hockey team for the township league she played in growing up. Are you looking for an intern position in the summer of 2025? This could be you! Visit http://spklr.io/60450kkt to learn more.
