This Spring, the WV Army National Guard will supporting high schools in their efforts to have Military Appreciation Games.

🗣️Another Marshall student creating a path towards success…. 🚨🦬
Please help me welcome PFC Jovone Johnson to the WV Army National Guard !!

Jovone joined the guard to help finish paying for school and so that he could go on and get his Masters paid in full. Jovone chose the College Split Option program which will allow him to go to basic training this summer and come straight back home so he can graduate in the fall.
After his graduation, he will head to Army School to become a “42A” Human Resource Specialist!!After all that, PFC Johnson will go work his Masters Degree, so that he can reach his dream of becoming a Teacher. 👨🏾‍🏫 🏫 📏 ✏️

Ever wonder why the Military uses a 24 hour clock??….

We are all guilty of accidentally setting our alarm for 6:00 P.M. Instead of 6:00 A.M., causing us to be late for something...

Since the military is working around the clock, a 24 hour clock is used to avoid any confusion between day and night. We cannot afford to have our times mixed up. Our operations require specific timing and using a 24 hour clock helps us with that!

Before you head out to Basic Combat Training (BCT), you will attend the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) one weekend a month. These weekends serve as your initial exposure to BCT. This process, ensures your mental, physical, emotional, and administrative readiness as you prepare for BCT and your guard career. You also get paid for each weekend and eat for free. The RSP consist of five distinct phases…

Katelyn joined the National Guard because she hs always had a desire to serve, but still loves her civilian lifestyle! Katelyn will go to Army Basic and follow that up with 91C School (Utilities Equipment Repairer). She will learn all about HVAC and learn valuable skills that will help her succeed in the civilian world!

Why wait, when you can get paid now and gain experience for your future?!!

SPLIT TRAINING OPTION-
This program lets you join the Guard before your Senior Year in High School!

Here’s how it works: You enlist while you’re still a junior (you must be 17 years old to enlist and have permission from a parent or guardian), finish that year and attend Basic Combat Training during the summer between your junior and senior years.

You’ll return to school for your senior year, during which you’ll train one weekend a month and get paid. The summer following graduation, you’ll attend Advanced Individual Training and train for your Guard job (your MOS), and start your life after high school above your peers! 🇺🇸

As a Religious Affairs Specialist, you’ll have the rewarding responsibility of supporting the unit ministry team, programs, and worship services, while also providing support to the Chaplains during missions and everyday activities. You’ll assist in planning and synchronizing religious support operations and coordinating the circulation of the unit ministry team to ensure the Soldiers’ spiritual readiness. You’ll also maintain reports, files, and administrative data for religious operations, and conduct specialized peer counseling for Soldiers in need of emotional support.
