SPS is all about having fun with physics. We are open to anyone, regardless of major, and there's no pressure or any expectations that our members know a lot about physics. All that's needed is an interest in the cool things physics can do. At each of our meetings (which are twice a month) we have a make-and-take, where everyone builds some small physics related thing to take with them. We have do
ne things like mini potato guns, levitating magnets, liquid stacking, and color mixing. We also do larger builds on the weekends, where we make things like full-size potato guns, cornstarch flamethrowers, theremins, and even a musical Tesla Coil. In addition to building cool stuff, SPS is involved in getting kids excited about physics. We do presentations at schools, from elementary to high school, and show the kids physics demos. These events are really fun, since we get to share the fun of physics with those who may not have experienced it before. If you are interested in physics, SPS is the place for you. You don't have to be a physics major, or in a physics class. Everyone is welcome. We are all about having fun, building cool stuff, and learning more about interesting aspects of physics.
