The Commercial Truck Master Mechanic is responsible for maintaining diesel and gas vehicles and equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance; correcting deficiencies; keeping accurate records, and contributing to the finished builds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Follow inspection procedures.
Determine vehicle conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Complete routine and preventive maintenance; install component and part upgrades; control corrosion; complete winterization procedures.
Correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing, overhauling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, transmissions, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics.
Machine shop operations; maintain bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and/or after repairs are made.
Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment.
Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
Tighten bolts and screws, belt adjustments, and attaching system components.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance
Comply with federal, state, and local vehicle requirements and safety standards.
Maintain vehicle records and documentation.
Maintain shop equipment in operating condition.
Maintain costs controls.
Inventory management; place orders with procurement department; verify receipts.
Continue increasing job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Provide input and participate in improvement projects.
All other duties as assigned.
Desired Education and/or Experience:
5+ years of prior mechanic experience in a professional shop
High school or GED

Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday plus possible overtime and weekends, non-exempt
Pay: based upon experience
