"The Men and Women of Montgall Avenue" is the title of a class that SPARK will offer from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays June 5, 12 and 26. The instructor is Margie Carr, Ph.D., author of "Kansas City's Montgall Avenue." Some of Kansas City's most important Black leaders lived on this avenue during the Jim Crow era - and later, when Jim Crow was replaced with redlining.

Dr. Deborah Keating, who holds a Ph.D. in history, will focus on the Declaration of Independence in her summer quarter class at SPARK, "The Multi-Strategies of Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence." The class will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, June 4-25, in person or online, and will explore the story behind each clause.

This sounds fun! Join SPARK on Tuesday, June 2, for an Early American Trivia Contest. To celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we will have a Zoom quiz about the period from the 1760s to the 1820s. The contest begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends by 3:30 p.m. Moderator will be Doug Sheer.
