Mr. Bernard Jenkins was born on April 7, 1957 in Jackson, MS to Charlie Jenkins and Doris Jean Portis Jenkins. He departed this life on August 15, 2026 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Marcus Bennett Barnes was born April 7, 1971 in Jackson, Mississippi and passed away on August 18, 2026, leaving behind precious memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was the beloved son of Charles and Delois Barnes.

At an early age, Marcus devoted his life to Christ and joined Farish Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hickman M. Johnson.

Marcus graduated from Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi. After high school, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he trained and worked as a technician for Cox Cable Communications. After returning to Mississippi, he furthered his education at Jackson State University.

Marcus was a gifted man with many talents. For many years, he was self-employed, building and installing stereo systems, home entertainment systems, and security systems. He could do all kinds of work involving automobiles. Marcus continued to pursue his passion for music by joining the staff at WMPR 90.1 FM Radio Station, where he served as a radio announcer and computer technician.

Marcus met Angela Duffin-Lewis, and they were united in Holy Matrimony on November 28, 1998. Together, they were loving parents to two children.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Henry and Leola Singleton; mother-in-law, Verneatha Duffin; and father-in-law, George Duffin.

The precious memories of Marcus will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Angela Barnes; his loving and caring mother, Delois Barnes; two children, Demorio Edwards and Carl A. (Crystal) Lewis, all of Stone Mountain Georgia; two grandchildren, Cyanne Lewis and Carl Lewis, III; god-sister, Mary Jo (James) Dolley; sister, Denise (Don) Taylor; god-sister, Lovelle Cotton; god-brother/cousin, Donald (Kimberly) Singleton; three sisters, Candice (Torrey) Green, Shannon Hunter, Stacey Hunter; one sister-in-law, Antoinette (Ronnie) Duffin-Dixon; one brother-in-law, Anthony (Barbara) Duffin, Jr.; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Though Marcus is no longer with us, his life, love, and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
