WFWMS Career Technical Specialist Michael McGee participated in the First Annual McComb Veterans Resource Fair, sponsored by Loving Hearts Homecare Services.

Michael hosted a resource table, connecting with Veterans, community members, and fellow organizations to share information about the employment services and career resources available through Work for Warriors Mississippi.

WFWMS Employment Coordinator Tammy Clinton proudly accepted the award on behalf of our team at the Jackie Dole Community Center in Hattiesburg.

This recognition means so much to our team because it reflects the relationships we’ve built, the lives we’ve had the privilege of impacting, and the shared commitment to making a difference for our Veterans and their families.

WFWMS Career Technical Specialist Michael McGee attended a well-attended event at the Washington County Convention Center in Greenville, Mississippi.

The event brought together community leaders and local officials, including U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson and the Mayor of Greenville, providing a great opportunity to connect with those serving and supporting communities across the Mississippi Delta.

Team Member Spotlight: Tammy Clinton, Employment Coordinator

Where are you from?
Pulaski, Mississippi. I’m the youngest of five siblings and grew up loving the outdoors, hunting, riding horses, gardening, and learning everything I could from my father.

What inspired you to join the WFWMS team?
I wanted to give back to Service Members and their families while staying connected to the military community. After 36 years of military service, it has always been an important part of my life.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Spending time with my children and grandchildren, traveling, gardening, walking trails, bird watching, and hosting bonfires.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I previously served as a deputy sheriff and worked undercover.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
At 50 years old, I ran a half-marathon!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Greece, Alaska, and as many national parks across America as possible.

What advice would you give someone transitioning from military to civilian employment?
Start planning at least a year in advance and take advantage of programs like SkillBridge to help prepare for your desired career field.

What’s one piece of career advice you always share?
Stay consistent with your applications, always follow up, and send a thank-you note after an interview.

What motivates you every day?
Life and the ability to help others.

What can’t you start your day without?
Prayer and coffee.

Connecting with more than 500 attendees!

Jeffery Isabell represented Work for Warriors Mississippi at the Fifth Annual College and Career Fair at the CRTC Center in Gulfport. Jeffery connected with attendees, answered questions, and shared information about the career resources and employment support available through WFWMS.

Michael McGee and Tammy Clinton recently attended the VFW Post 3036 monthly fish fry, connecting with local Veterans and members of the community.

The monthly fish fry is always a great opportunity to spend time with our local Veterans, build relationships, and stay connected with the community we serve. Thank you to VFW Post 3036 for another great turnout!

The Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership recently hosted the Mississippi Business Alliance at Southern Oaks, bringing together local business leaders and state-level executives in workforce development and legislative affairs.

WFWMS team members Tammy Clinton and Michael McGee attended, making valuable connections and strengthening relationships within the Hattiesburg business community.

A highlight of the event was connecting with Shanice, Manager of the DoubleTree in Hattiesburg. We’re excited to welcome DoubleTree as a new WFWMS employer partner and look forward to working together to connect Service Members, Veterans, and their families with employment opportunities.

Building connections and creating career opportunities for Mississippi’s military community!

WFWMS recently met with the Northrop Grumman team to discuss ways we can connect Service Members, veterans, and military spouses with career opportunities in Iuka, Mississippi.

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking Aircraft Manufacturing Technicians and Quality Assurance professionals, with military maintenance and mechanical experience preferred. Training opportunities are also available for those looking to build their skills.

Beginning the week of October 12, Northrop Grumman will also host bi-weekly information and virtual hiring events for interested candidates.

We’re looking forward to working with Northrop Grumman to connect military talent with long-term career opportunities across Mississippi!
