This week I heard a testimony from a woman that was completely transparent and glorious. She shared her struggles but she magnified the Lord and His love for her. I related completely to all she shared and received such encouragement because I had struggled in the same way.

What made this testimony glorious was how she magnified the Lord and His love!

As I’ve pondered this testimony, I thought of how we all have struggled with sin. In fact, Romans 3:23 test us, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” And that’s why Jesus came; to save us from sin and reconcile us back to the Father. But when we allow our thoughts to remain focused on those sins, we can take ourselves right into condemnation, guilt and shame. That’s not God!

Jesus has paid the price for sins. And, all who receive His gift of salvation, are forgiven for their sins; past, present and future. Psalm 34:3 says, “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.” When we focus our thoughts and attention on Jesus, what He has done and Who He is, we magnify the freedom and liberty He has given us. We magnify His goodness, His grace and His love. And as we do, condemnation, guilt, and shame become powerless against us until they can no longer influence our lives. Glory!

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.” (Ps 34:1-3)

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your mind, and with all your strength..” (Mark 12:30)

If asked the question, “Are you living God’s kind of love with all those in your life?” How would you respond?

This week, as I have struggled to give God’s love, I went to Jesus for help. To be honest, I hesitated to talk with Him about it because I knew what I should do and I was embarrassed that I wasn’t doing it. As I humbled myself asking why I was struggling to do what is righteous, He graciously showed me; I had been focusing on peoples actions and words rather than on God and His love. I repented, and I was refreshed with His love and grace in His presence!

I enjoy living in peace but I had allowed my thoughts and focus to move me to frustration. God has graciously given us all free will to choose how we will live our lives; we can serve ourselves or we can serve the Lord. When others choose something other than Jesus, we can still choose to love as Jesus has loved us. The Lord will keep us in His perfect peace.

“Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. Love never fails [it never fades nor ends].” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, AMP

This is how I choose to live love. How about you?

Is your cup running over?

Psalm 23:5 says, “ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.” David declared the Lord, his Shepherd, gives him abundant overflow. God doesn’t just provide enough. He doesn’t just provide our needs. He provides ABUNDANCE.

What abundance do you desire? Do you know your Shepherd? Do you know your Shepherd will provide? What do you expect from Him?

As children of God, we are instructed to meditate on His Word all the time (Ps 1, 19:14, Josh 1:8). TO meditate means to imagine. Do you imagine the Lord overflowing you with abundance?

I have continued to mediate on my mashed potato miracle this week. The Lord was faithful to provide an abundance where it was needed. He didn’t just provide for our need; He gave us an abundance; leftovers for every one of us. So I have taken that simple answered prayer and began to apply His Word and promise to every need and want I have. Because I am in relationship with the Lord, I believe the desires of my heart align with His, and He will give me the desires of my heart.

So rather than allowing that old dead nature to tell me “how I’m going to get this done,” I told myself Who the Lord is- my Shepherd Who provides for all He has asked me to do for Him. I see Him increasing in every area just as He increased those potatoes; That’s His job. Mine is to trust, believe, and walk by faith.

Do you know the Lord will ensure your cup runs over with abundance? Can you see the Lord you Shepherd providing everything to you in ABUNDANCE?

Watch and see how much the Lord loves you!

With God, all things are possible!

I’d like to share about the mashed potato miracle.

Last weekend, a friend and I catered meals for a Women’s Retreat. It was a small group, a total of about 20 people. As I was preparing dinner Saturday evening, I realized I hadn’t brought enough potatoes to serve everyone! As I shared this with my friend, she said, “Yes we do! We will ask the Lord to multiply it like He did the fish and loaves.” Yes, of course! So we prayed.

After dinner, as we were cleaning the kitchen and putting away the leftovers, I told my friend I was amazed by the amount of potatoes we had left! She said, “Why? That’s what we prayed for.” I was convicted and a bit embarrassed because that wasn’t my first thought. I humbly thanked the Lord for answering our prayer, for providing for His daughters, and increasing my faith.

As I have pondered this miracle, I have applied my faith in God’s Word to everything this week. And, as I expected, I have received. I love to experience God’s grace and mercy, and His patience, as I continue to transform from self reliance to dependence on Him and His ability to do what is impossible for me. I find such comfort and peace in Him and His promises.

Needing more mashed potatoes was a small thing, and for many, it may seem trivial. But for me, the team, and those attending the event, it was significant. Everything in our lives is important to God. And, He is here to help…if we will only ask and believe.

Like the twelve baskets of leftover for each of Jesus’ disciples, we have leftovers for each of our team members. He works mightily in what seems to be the smallest of situations. Only believe!

This week I watch a video of a house that was completely swept away in a storm. It was built on wooden stakes that had been driven into the sand. The strong wave came crashing in and the house could not withstand the pressure. The stakes collapsed and the house became like a boat being tossed to and fro on the ocean waves. This is one of MANY who have lost so much in the storms these past weeks, and my heart cries for them all.

As I considered this one house, I thought about life and how storms can do the same to us when we are not built on a solid foundation of Jesus Christ. That one house represented me and my life before I knew Jesus and came to trust Him.

In Luke 6:47-49, Jesus tells us that storms will come against us with great force. But, He says, “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings, and does them, He will be like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock!”

Today, I have a close and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. And I can see the difference His Word makes when I am faced with adversity. In the past, I would take the attack personally and harden my heart to protect myself. Today, I choose to forgive and love which allows Him to create a force field like protection about me, and I am empowered to overcome.

Let’s choose to build our lives on the solid foundation of God’s Word!
