What does it take to build the future of water science? 💧🏗️

A 350-foot tow tank. A 250-foot tilting flume. Specialized laboratories. And a facility designed to help scientists and engineers better understand one of our nation’s most important resources: water.

The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is a one-of-a-kind center for water science and technology. Built by joint-venture team Brasfield & Gorrieand Jordan Construction Company in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) (USGS), the 95,000-square-foot facility houses, tests and calibrates hydrologic equipment used to monitor water resources nationwide.

The project earned a 2026 The Baldwin Group Build America Award, and now we're putting the spotlight on the next generation of standout construction projects.

Remembering the Past. Preparing for the Future.

As we approach 9/11, RiskCON 2026 gives us an opportunity to remember those we lost and honor the heroes who responded.
