Nurses spend their careers caring for others, often placing their own wellbeing last. Yet research consistently shows that when healthcare professionals intentionally care for themselves, they are better equipped to manage stress, prevent burnout, strengthen resilience, and continue providing compassionate, high-quality care. This Gratitude & Wellbeing Series, provided by ISNA, offers nurses the opportunity to pause, reconnect with themselves, and learn practical, evidence-based mind-body skills that can be integrated into everyday life—both at work and at home. The skills learned have a twofold benefit: improving the participants' wellbeing and providing skills that can be used to help those they serve.
Each session combines education, reflection, and experiential practice, exploring topics such as stress physiology, emotional awareness, mindfulness, compassion, self-compassion, meaning in caregiving, and sustainable resilience. Participants will learn simple, research-supported techniques that can help regulate the stress response, increase emotional wellbeing, and foster greater balance while navigating the demands of nursing.
This program is designed as an 8-session series rather than a drop-in class. Each session builds upon the previous week, allowing participants to deepen their understanding, develop new habits, and experience the greatest benefit from consistent practice. We encourage nurses from all specialties and practice settings to commit to the full series and invest in one of the most important resources they have—themselves. Nursing Contact Hour credit is provided upon completion of at least 75% of the sessions.
