After 8 years in recruiting, Tellis Executive Search has closed. Its been a journey and I've helped place over 100 people and over one-third have been diverse candidates. Something that I am proud of in that whenever I was given a challenge like "we can't find any diverse candidates" or "we can't find anyone with that skillset", I gladly took it on to curate what my clients were looking for. I know we were not perfect, no one is, but I know we were able to make matches more than 80% of the time.

What's next? I have accepted a position with one of my clients, using my purchasing experience to support their Research and Development teams transition projects to a production supply chain. I'm excited for this newest chapter and look forward to all the new lessons I will experience.

Watch Out for Resume typos! "Led" vs. "lead"

There's a difference between the raw material in your pencil and leading a project to success!

"Led" (L-E-D) should be used to describe something you achieved in the past. For example, "led a successful project."

"Lead" refers to the material inside a pencil that allows you to write or draw.

When highlighting your leadership skills on your resume, make sure to use the past tense "led."

Take the time to proofread your resume carefully to avoid small but impactful mistakes.

I remember when my mentor and friend, Stacy, invited me to attend the WBENC-ORV Dayton luncheon and I had the chance to network with other women business owners.

Stacy even won a free weekend to drive one of these great GM cars!

But what made this experience even more exciting was the chance to hear from a special guest - a supplier diversity from General Motors.
