Occupational Therapist turned Talent Acquisition Manager. What in the world?! As many of us did in 2020, I took a step back and re-evaluated my career. Did things have to be like they've always been? Was there a place for me outside of healthcare? After thinking long and hard about these questions and talking to friends about that I was thinking through, this opportunity felt right. Aside from learning the world of financial planning and talent acquisition, I learned I already had the necessary skills to be succesful in another career! Was I able to establish rapport and help people figure out what was important to them? Yep! Was I able to communicate clearly and listen well? Yes, again. Was I able to facilitate trustworthy and authentic conversations? You know it! All of those skills I learned while assessing and caring for patients have translated well into this career-- talking with candidates, walking through the onboarding process with new hires and nurturing our new career agents as they find their way in a new career of their own! So while I may not be the most experienced TA professional in the room, I might be the most relatable as you think through career possibilities. Whether you are beginning your career, changing careers altogether, or changing your alignment in the financial services field, I'm happy to connect!
