Now in 2026, most HR Departments are in the same place: they know AI is something they should be thinking about, but they’re not exactly sure where to start. And honestly, that’s not a bad place to be. It just means you have the opportunity to introduce AI into the department in the right way instead of jumping into tools that may or may not make sense for your organization.

Where I see organizations get off track is when they start with the technology. They’ve sat through a webinar, a class, or a demo, heard what another company is doing, or feel pressure to “do something with AI,” so they go looking for a solution before they’ve clearly defined the problem. In most cases, that leads to a lot of activity but not much real impact.

During the webinar we explored how 50andbetter job seekers can use the information on LinkedIn more effectively for a successful job search and the power of LinkedIn to enable older jobseekers to pursue the professional lives they’ve always wanted.

Dr. Barnes' presentation provided the following participants with:

1. The LinkedIn tools and features that are most useful to older jobseekers and why.
2. An approach to using LinkedIn to expand a network that is naturally contracting due to age.
3. An understanding of how older job seekers can use LinkedIn to battle the most powerful form of ageism (it’s probably not what you think) to pursue the professional lives they’ve always wanted.
