HSSE Manager needed in Humble, TX
Job description
· Create a culture of Safety by maintaining the company’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) rules and regulations.
· Plan and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, injury prevention, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other safety related items.
· Promotes a learning culture within the business to reduce the HSSE risks and ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all site personnel.
· Compile monthly safety tracking data report for management. Produces other safety reports as needed.
· Completes all accident/injury/incident reporting and performs investigations to determine cause and possible preventive measures for future work of a similar nature. Further investigates all injury claims to ensure the company is protected from fraudulent worker compensation claims.
· Conducts regular training on HSSE related topics.
· Supports implementation environmental and sustainability practices that exceed industry standards and expectations.
· Stays up to date with any relevant changes to environmental and safety legislation.
· Advises and/or updates HSSE Policy and Safe Working Methods as required.
· Facilitates Incident Investigations where appropriate.
· Participates in HSSE workplace inspections, environmental inspections, behavior-based observations to help identify HSSE nonconformities, defects and system deficiencies.
· Practices safe work habits and complies with all quality, safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, programs and regulations.
· Ensures compliance with Federal, State, Local and Corporate safety requirements.
· Facilitates task safety analyses on current and future equipment purchases.
· Carries out area HSSE inspections to report on status of policy compliance.
· Assists in planning, developing, implementing and administering health, safety and emergency plans, programs and activities.
· Administer first aid to treat minor injuries and coordinate medical services for injuries requiring outside medical care.
· Other duties as determined by management.
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or other directly related field to be substituted for degree.
· Two to five years’ experience in a related position in a manufacturing environment.
· Familiarity with manufacturing specialties such as machining, assembly, testing, quality testing and material handling.
· Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Local and State regulations and requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· 20% Office environment, 80% manufacturing floor time. Some exposure to possible shop hazards including high noise and heavy machinery, may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time.
· Ability to work unsupervised, functioning as an effective, self-motivated, and highly capable individual.
· Able to successfully handle and resolve safety incident related issues.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
· Proficiency in systems including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Must be able to work any shift as needed but majority of the time will work 2nd shift.
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize, completing tasks within established time constraints.
· Be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization.
· Able to conduct instructor led training.
