Crews mobilized for a waterline reroute β€” closing the lane, removing steel plates, laying out the new line, and managing rework as conditions changed. Spoils hauled out, BMPs reset, stockpiles re-covered, roadway cleared. Another one done right. πŸ’ͺ

Sometimes the job tells you to slow down. πŸ”

Mid-project on Kam Hwy, our laser verification flagged the RCP slightly off alignment and grade. Easy to leave it and move on β€” but that's not how we operate. We pulled the sections, regraded, and reset it correctly before moving forward.

Old infrastructure, tight lane closures, and unexpected conditions are part of the work. Adapting without cutting corners is what separates a good crew from a great one.

Collars taking shape on Kam Hwy πŸ’ͺ

Forms set, rebar tied in β€” the repair collars are coming together around the new RCP. Steady, precise work underground while traffic keeps moving above. Closed at 8:30, back open by 12:30.

The details done right now are what hold up for decades.

New pipe's in, collars are next πŸ—οΈ

Cut and set a new RCP segment into the existing line, patched the additional crack, and cleaned silt out of the pipes while we were in there. Wrapped up the day fabricating collar forms and bending rebar β€” prepping for the next phase.

Methodical work on an old system. Every step counts.

Pipe's going in πŸ”§

Demolished the remaining broken RCP, excavated down, and properly bedded the new 24" pipe β€” Mirafi wrap, 3B cushion fill, 6" pipe bedding, done right. Steel plates back down, road reopened by 1:30.

Every layer matters when you're building infrastructure meant to last.

Drainage work on Kam Hwy β€” and it didn't go exactly as planned πŸ˜…

We opened up the road to repair a cracked RCP and found an additional crack hiding underneath. Adjusted the shoring plan, brought in longer shore jacks, and made sure everything was safe before moving forward. Lane closed, work done, road back open.
That's the job β€” adapt and keep it moving.

Progress on Kam Hwy πŸ› οΈ

Sawcut the asphalt, excavated down, and pulled out the broken RCP segment for replacement. The crew also fab'd a custom steel plate span support on site to keep things moving safely. Lane closed at 8:30, road back open by 1:30 β€” keeping disruption to a minimum on a busy corridor.

Old infrastructure comes with surprises. We work carefully, communicate with the engineer, and do it right.

Not every job is just dirt and concrete β€” sometimes you're working inches away from a live water line on a active highway.

Potholing on the mauka lane at Kamehameha Hwy, Laie side, to safely expose a water line connection point. Board of Water Supply on site, GP Traffic Control keeping things moving β€” because when you're digging near critical infrastructure, you don't cut corners on coordination.

Busy road. Tight space. Right team.

Not every part of construction is glamorous β€” but it matters. Before backfilling could begin, bio socks were patched, and every weep hole was hand-dug to confirm nothing got sealed shut during the CLSM pour. One blocked drain behind a wall can quietly cause thousands of dollars in damage down the road.

A broken PVC line turned up in the process β€” capped on the spot before it became someone else's problem later. Then came the backfill, compacted lift by lift with a sheep's foot roller until the ground was solid enough to trust.

This is the part of the job that never makes it into the final photos. But it's exactly what makes the final product last.

Progress behind the canal wall. Strip drains are set and connected directly to the weep holes, creating a continuous drainage path that keeps water moving and pressure off the wall.

First lift of CLSM poured and complete β€” controlled low-strength material fills voids and stabilizes the backfill without overloading the structure. BMPs also back in order as work continues on site.

Every layer done right before moving to the next.
