Each year, Armed Forces Day affords us an opportunity to pause and honor those who put on a uniform and defend the American way of life.

It’s a day to show appreciation for the service and sacrifices of all who serve or have served in our Nation’s Armed Forces. 🇺🇸

“The thought of doing something for my country, that kept me going.” - Sgt. Ivor Griffin, Montford Point Marine.

In 1942, Black Americans were recruited into the Marine Corps, and unlike other Marines, were sent to Montford Point, a facility at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Today, these Marines are known as the Montford Point Marines. Although they are no longer in the Corps, they play a vital role in educating Marines and civilians alike about those who broke the barrier for Black Marines today.
