They City of Cheyenne runs over 20 garbage trucks. Front loaders, rear loaders, ASL, and roll off. Most cities purchase their garbage trucks and budget for its replacement after 5-12 years. This is true with Cheyenne. Sometimes through an outright purchase doesn't quite make sense and reasons could be:
-We need a truck now and can't wait for a custom spec truck to arrive
-We want to try a new type of truck but don't want the risk of owning it for 5-12 years if it doesn't turn out to be the right fit
-We have only a 1-5 year need for more trucks
-We don't quite have the budget currently for an outright purchase
-We want to keep newer trucks to lower maintenance and have predictable fixed costs
-The value on leasing is high compared to owning and maintaining for 5-10 years and the trade value of that older truck.
