My bio:
Lisa’s natural curiosity and her openness to embracing new challenges enabled her to transform an unplanned, mid-career layoff into a new career direction. Moving from her previous career a as Marketing copywriter to one in Talent Acquisition turned out to be an inspired career decision for Lisa, as she is a natural at connecting and networking, and can be very tenacious when required.
Since changing careers, Lisa has held positions at both start-ups and non-profit organizations. At MakerBot, a 3D printing company, she helped grow the organization from 150 to 600 employees. Then, at littleBits, another electronics start-up, she again brought in the talent that enabled the company to transition from a small to a mid-sized company.
Currently consulting at Consumer Reports as a Talent Acquisition consultant, Lisa focuses on finding the right talent for positions in advocacy, marketing, and content creation. Working in the non-profit space is proving to be the most challenging, yet most rewarding, experience in either of her careers.
Lisa credits both an inquisitive attitude and a resume rich in transferable skills that mapped directly to her new position as keys that enabled her to embark on her second career. In addition to having a solid resume that speaks to the desired position and actively working connections, Lisa advises, a willingness to learn and grow, along with an open attitude toward new possibilities, are essential elements to successfully finding a new career.
