Here's a vented toe kick panel for under a cabinet. I'm using a dado blade at 5/16" wide. I start the saw and slowly raise the blade into the work until it breaks through, and reaches my forward cut line. Then, the workpiece is fed through to the back cut line. The finished side is up, and covered with tape to get a clean cut.
Note that there's a risk when raising a dado blade into a workpiece, of the blade catching the piece and launching it backwards off the saw. Standing to the side, out of the potential pathway, is a good idea.

When making doors, I select for grain and color of the wood (in this case, rift-sawn white oak) before milling into rails and stiles. After assembly, because of the natural variation of the wood, I spend some time arranging the doors for a harmonious transition of color and grain pattern between adjacent doors before installing. This results in a more cohesive visual presentation.

Making doors with veneered plywood panels surrounded by solid oak trim. I'm attaching the trim to the panel using the Festool Domino system. This makes for a strong joint that looks neat on both sides of the door. For this application, I mounted the Domino machine flat to the bench and am referencing all my machining operations off the back of the door, which keeps all the parts aligned and reduces error. Batching operations also helps reduce mistakes, and speeds things up.

Doors and drawers going in, and getting close to completing this custom kitchen. I really enjoy this stage in a project, where a lot of work in the shop translates into visible progress on the site.

Tried out a new method for scribing trim that I learned from Cabinet Mastery - a group for cabinet makers to improve their craft and business skills.
Make a row of biscuits or dominoes on your trim piece and cabinet where it should be in its final position. Then make a second row on your trim piece with a fixed offset (e.g 3/4"). Place the trim piece on your cabinet in the offset position and use a thickness block of the offset (3/4" in this case) to scribe the wall or ceiling. Using blue tape and a scribing knife is the most accurate. Take the piece down, cut to the scribed line, ideally back beveling the cut 15 degrees or so, and then reinstall the trim piece using the original row of biscuits or dominoes. It should fit perfectly.

Last week, I got the cabinet boxes installed and this kitchen is starting to come together. Up next is soffit trim, followed by doors and drawers.

Last week I began the installation of kitchen cabinets that I've been building in the shop. The first cabinet, in this case a pantry cabinet, is critical to set level and plumb and carefully aligned parallel to the wall. I use a laser level and make reference marks on the floor and ceiling to establish a reference plane. Once that's done, the other cabinets are positioned to the reference plane and attached to the wall and each other.

Gluing up the first of about 30 doors today. These are a little different than regular frame and panel doors which usually have wider rails and stiles with a panel that fits in a groove, so I decided to use domino tenons to join the frame directly to the plywood panel.
