☀️ Our summer just got even better! Last week, we welcomed four interns to the WPI team, and we are excited for you to meet them! Our final intern introduction is for Mackenzie Moline, our Human Resources Intern!

About Mackenzie:
- Grew up on her family's farm by St. Peter, Minnesota
- Was involved in 4-H where she raised and showed pigs and sheep. She also leased cattle to show and was involved in her local FFA chapter
- Just completed her junior year at MSU in Mankato, majoring in Marketing where she is hoping to pursue a career in agriculture and/or marketing after graduation
- First day in one word: Exciting or informational

When asked why she chose to intern for WPI, Mackenzie said: "The learning opportunities both in the barn and in the office is what drew me. I want to learn about how Wakefield Pork runs from a business standpoint outside of the barns."

☀️ Our summer just got even better! Last week, we welcomed four interns to the WPI team, and we are excited for you to meet them! Our third intern introduction is for Sophie Klehr, our Social Media Intern.

About Sophie:
- Grew up on her family's farm by Henderson, Minnesota
- Was involved in 4-H where she showed dairy cattle and poultry. She was also involved in LeSueur-Henderson FFA, which restarted their chapter the year she was a senior in high school.
- Just completed her junior year at SDSU, majoring in Animal Science-Industry Relations Specialization and working toward the Workplace Intercultural Competence Certificate.
- First day in one word: Thrilling

When asked why she chose to intern for WPI, Sophie said "I had such an amazing experience last summer, it was a no-brainer for me to return for more fun and learning experiences."

We are excited to have Sophie back for her second summer with us! Help us give her a warm welcome!

☀️ Our summer just got even better! Last week, we welcomed four interns to the WPI team, and we are excited for you to meet them! Our second intern introduction is for Brennir Peterson, one of our two production interns.

About Brennir:
- Grew up on his family's farm by Gibbon, Minnesota
- Was involved in 4-H where he showed beef cattle, pigs, and poultry along with being involved in FFA, and the MN Junior Simmental Association
- Just completed his sophomore year at the U of M, majoring in Animal Science and minoring in Ag Business
- First day in one word: informational

When asked why he chose to intern for WPI, Brennir said "Wakefield Pork is an industry leader in pig production and can provide me a comprehensive experience in breeding, farrowing, boar stud operations, and finishing operations. This hands-on experience will be valuable in furthering my knowledge and skills in the industry."

Celebrating 35 years of Wakefield Pork! Last month, we invited our growers and employees to come together and celebrate all that has been accomplished since our last big celebration in 2011 and since the start of Wakefield.

- 57,000 sows
- 1.7 pigs marketed annually
Sure, we’ve come a long way but it’s not really the numbers that matter. It’s all the people that are a part of what we do and having what it takes to thrive in future generations.
